Gibbstown

Gibbstown is a quaint, unincorporated community within Greenwich Township, located in western Gloucester County and adjacent to the Delaware River. A very small town of about 1.6 square miles and approximately 3,700 residents, its roots trace back to the 1600’s and was officially established in 1798.

A couple historically significant landmarks include the C. A. Nothnagle Log House or Braman-Nothnagle Log House (circa 1638), claimed to be New Jersey’s oldest home and the oldest surviving log home in the country. It is part of the National Register of Historic Places. Gibbstown is also the birthplace of noted oceanographer, Sylvia Earle and professional football player, Alex Silvestro.
